Vaginal Cytology is a painless procedure, whereby a vaginal swab is taken of the cells lining the vagina and are analysed under a specialist microscope. This then allows us to identify which stage of estrus your dog is currently in. Analysing the structure of the cells tells us if she has ovulated yet and if she is ready to mate. Identifying the optimum window for mating increases the chance of obtaining a pregnancy.
